Has anyone used the Vortex Venom red dot sight on their shotguns for turkey, and if so, how was the performance?

haystaddle

Just bought one for my 12 gauge Encore last week. Installed and did initial sight in with trap loads. I like it so far, Replaced a Fast Fire II that is going on my wifes 20 gauge. Looks like it will be a good replacement. Sighting in with Longbeards this weekend.

Cory

Just ordered one. Hoping to have it and mounted before season opens. Did a lot of
research and decided to go with the Venom.

Does it have any advantages over the fastfire, they have been the staple it seems for turkey reddots and I have on my turkey gun but I was considering going with the vortex on the next one over the fast fire was sure if there was any real difference other than brand.

Several more intensity settings which is nice since the Burris only has three

don't own a venom but I do own several vortex scopes. The quality of their optics are second to none in there price range imho. I really like that you don't have to remove the optic to change the battery.

No real difference, or advantage. Very, similar almost identical in size and features. I had a 200 credit at MidwayUSA and the Fastfire III was out of stock. I also have several Vortex optics, and the quality is tops.

The vortex warranty has me leaning that way, I know the fast fire was on sale at Cabelas so we will see if it still is or not I've got like $50 in points so I'll get one of the two there

The extra light intensity settings are a real benefit

Buzzkiller

The ones that have vortex and burris which would you recommend?

Ridge Rooster

I have had both. If you use a Vortex with the Weaver, 336 or Speed Bead mount with a protector you will not be able to use the dust/rain cover. I prefer the Burris just for that reason, I suppose if you didn't use the protector you would be fine. The Vortex that I had also had a elongated star instead of a true dot, but I have also had one FF that had the same issue, sent it back for an exchange. I am not sure but I think the Burris has longer battery life.
