Benelli Nova 20ga 26" barrel NIB

Just a quick question for everyone.  I debating purchasing a NIB Benelli Nova 20ga from a friend who has never shot it.  Has all the factory goodies, box, warranty, 3 chokes, etc... It's the black matte version.  He has 100 target load he's selling with it for $375.  I though this was a pretty damn good deal from all my research.  My question is there anyone here that uses one for gobblers?  If so, what type of load/choke combo are you using?  I would like a reference point to start from.  Thanks!

I own a 24" barrel full camo version. I like the HS Strut Undertaker choke. I use two different loads. The first is the old pre-FCW Federal Premium 3" 1 5/16 oz # 6 shot. The other is the Federal 3" 1 1/4 oz. #5  Turkey Thugs. Both loads shoot good patterns. Sounds like you are getting a good deal to me. I really like my little Nova especially when I will be moving alot and covering ground. One nice mature gobbler was killed with the first load. It was a DRT at about 30 yards.

Thanks WildTigerTrout!  I have those same loads for my son's bantam Mossberg 500 youth turkey gun.  I have a Primos tight wad I'm going to try with the Benelli Nova.   I'm going to also try the original Hevishot 20ga 3" #6s and see how they do. (Not the new Hevishot 20ga shells, the first batch that came out years ago.)  I really appreciate you giving me a starting point.  I love this forum.  I've been turkey hunting for 15 years and every season I learn something new.  Take care!

You are more than welcome. Let me know how you make out. I also have a Primos Tight Wad choke but have not had much luck getting it to throw good patterns. I have more testing to do however so maybe I will find the right combo for it too.

i have one with a 24" and mine shoots winchester 5's well with a tight wad .570

I recently picked up a barely used nova compact 20 & as soon as the weather cooperates (-5 at the moment) I plan on testing some combinations.  Same mobil choke as my Franchi so I already have the Carlson's 575 & a tightwad... Have a Jebs headhunter 565 in route, should be here next week.
