Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that everyone can use some encouragement from time to time. We can really get weary and beat up at times, especially when we are going through some real dry seasons, and a pat in the shoulder or hug or just an encouraging word sure comes in handy. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) Great words straight from the bible, sometimes I scratch my head when I read it, wondering WHEN the good is gonna come up, but I trust His word and His promises as long as I am faithful. When I was in the hospital, I talked to many folks, nurses, doctors and visitors....you know what I found, that my problems were not unique to me...that everyone had something to face. We had prayer the other day for a fellow who's heart busted open, who was lying in bed in a coma, with tubes and wires everywhere, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles." (Psalm 34:17)
his wife was in constant tears, her eyes were swollen and reddened, but her faith was steadfast....today I hear he is awake and sitting up and talking...I met a nurse who was working two jobs, both caring for others, three children ... husband left her...but she was rejoicing because the Lord gave her the opportunity and the health to do so...she told me she got really tired, but she had to push onward..."He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength." (Isaiah 40:29)...stories are plentiful in places where people are, some disheartening, some encouraging and some just plain old heart wrenching, but....in the end when we can encourage someone through their times of troubles, it can be a win win situation, I encourage you to read closely this next verse..."The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:9) put your trust in God, raise your voice to encourage others, offer a place of refuge for their spiritually weakened state and make this place a better place to live and be prosperous for the Lord.
