Started my season on Tuesday with my daughter hoping to get her a bird, well that didn't happen but we did get to enjoy a great morning and watch 8 long beards following 4 hens single file strutting and gobbling as they went by at 100 yards. Tried getting the attention of the hens but they wanted no parts of that and the Gobblers were less than interested as they would gobble and move to 80yards then drift back with the gals..... Wendsay just saw me solo with little gobbling and a guy wandering around out in the open calling non stop" guess he had seen the birds as well" so closed the day. Figured I would let the spot cool off and hit another location on Thursday and was rewarded with 4 birds gobbling after a hour of playing chess with them they went silent so the hunt began having a idea where they may be heading I went to it " oops a tad late they were at it and I bumped them but with the wind don't think they made me because they moved out at a slow walk. After a few minutes and a crawl to a tree I set up first call and at 45 yards out comes a hen then another followed by three long beards , game over!. 16lbs 11 1/8" beard 1 1/8" spurs.
