Done in Nebraska
April 19, 2015, 01:15:21 AM
Well we started with a downpour this morning and got soaked to the bone by 7 o'clock. Frogg Toggs weren't intended for sitting under a big cedar tree in Nebraska apparently. By 8:30 I was freezing to death and went and got in an old barn to get out of the wind. I was so cold from the wet clothes I decided to strip down and hang my clothes to see if they would dry out. Didn't realize just how wet I was. About ten o'clock I was standing there in the barn in my boxers, socks and boots and my buddy showed up in the barn. He had the same idea I had. We decided to go out to the truck and get warm and once there we remembered we had our dirty clothes from our Kansas trip still in the truck. Never have I been so proud to put on dirty clothes! We warmed a while and about 11:30 we hit it again. I killed mine about 1:15 and he killed his just before 8:00. We've had such a good trip we decided to call it quits and head for home. (Interpreted our wives said it was time to come home). We are both very blessed to have wonderful families who understand our sickness and are more than happy to come home when they ask us to. Well that and we really like our wives and miss them like crazy when we are away. That being said we hunted a total of two and a half days between Kansas and Nebraska and each killed three wonderful birds. The Lord has really been gracious to us and we are so very thankful to Him for His love and grace. Here are a couple pics. I almost forgot, I purposes to only use pots that I made this trip, but in my haste I closed the deal today with a Yingling copper pot so thanks Mike! I did use mine on three others this week and that was very special.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
