Barrel length?

I have the mossberg 835 water fowel gun. Does the barrel length affect the choke size that you would use? I know I need a different choke than what came with it(IC). Any suggestions are helpful

The barrel length will be fine, I would start out with some flavor of turkey choke.  It doesn't have yo be expensive to be effective.  A friend of mine uses a factory Mossberg turkey choke in his 835 with great results.

I agree with Gooserbat. Try some turkey chokes and different turkey loads. See what patterns the best. Good luck!

The longer waterfowl barrel should be easier to pattern well. If your gun came with the X-Factor waterfowl choke, it will be too open for turkey loads but the X-Factor turkey choke works pretty well. There are several turkey chokes that work very well in 835s and most have an exit diameter between .670 and .676. The Hevi-13 turkey choke and the SSX both do very well in that gun.

I would however recommend that prior to spending any money on any choke, you "deep clean" the bore. That process can help any gun pattern better but is especially helpful to the 835s.
