Luke 24:1-8 : "Now upon the first [day] of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain [others] with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down [their] faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words,..."
Easter, which celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, is Christianity's most important holiday. The physical resurrection of Jesus' body from the dead is the ultimate proof of Christianity. Everything else that was said or done by Christ and the apostles is secondary in importance to the resurrection. If the resurrection did not take place then Christianity would be just another false religion.
What would have happened IF Christ had not rose out of that borrowed tomb? First there would be no Christianity...no teachings of Hope ... Peace and Eternal Rest in Heaven would not be preached.....His Disciples would have surely given up on their teaching of the Doctrine that Christ had laid out for them, we know already they were afraid for their lives after Christ died on the cross! BUT HE LIVES!
And with His resurrection, came the excitement of His promises, that through repentance, the remission of sins had become a reality and that eternal life was no longer out of reach! Oh yes, there are scoffers, there are critics, and there are people who try their best to disprove the resurrection of Jesus, from the time Mary Magdalene told the disciples to present day....and to this I quote 1 Peter 1:3-5
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
All of this because of the resurrection!
