We got into a good spot while it was still dark.  When it got light enough see fairly good I hit the owl hooter and two gobblers sounded off about 300 yrds away.  We moved to about 150 yrds from their roost and I hit the owl hooter again and they sounded off a second time.  We put a hen decoy out and got into a chest deep ditch that provide great cover and got set.  I started with some soft tree calls and they gobbled back., then they flew off the roost and headed the opposite direction.  I started cutting and yelping aggressively and a third gobbler sounded off about 100 yrds away in a different tree.  He picthed out  and flew to about 50 yrds from our setup and I called him into gun range.  My grandson wanted to make a good shot and was on the trigger and off the trigger between struts.  Finally, he broke strut and stretched his neck out looking at the decoy and got a load of HW #7 in the face.   :fud:

Very cool...

I can hardly wait to experience that first bird with my own children...

I have to ask, who was more excited, you are him????
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.
