we heading out in the morning to sonora. how do the rio gobblers respond to gobbling at them.

Never needed to gobble at Rios...good hen talk always got the job done. If they're unpressured, probably the easiest subspecies to call up.

Make sure you have a good long box. They really like the high pitch sounds. I just got back and as usual they do not respond well to pot calls. Where in Sonora will you be?

  Good hen talk is all you need there, Coyote howlers work great for locating.
  Yelper, I will have to disagree with you on the pot calls. Called a truck load of birds in west Texas with a pot.
Maybe it's just the user, not the call. Just saying!!!!!
