First post and I just wanted to start out by saying, it looks like you guys have a great site! Been reading a lot and definitely learning some new stuff.....

Having read through several pages, I don't really see any posts regarding the T/C Encore turkey gun, specifically the 12ga. I've got an Encore Endeavor muzzleloader and have been thinking about buying the 12ga turkey barrel. Seems to me it would make a great set-up....

Anyone here using this set up? Pros and Cons, please! How does it shoot?  Lastly, I would appreciate any advice on scope mount options. I'm thinking specifically about a 2.5x20 Leupold Compact that I have laying around.....

Welcome to OG!
I have a buddy who loves his Encore turkey gun, but he has it in the 20 ga with a SumToy choke and shoots Fed heviweight 3-1.5-7's with great success.
I have heard that 12 ga version kicks like a rented mule! The scope you have would work very well for turkeys!
Good luck with whatever you choose!

Had one and sold it. Way to much recoil. Stock design pounds the hell out of you in 12ga. Break open lever makes you bleed.
And this comes from a guy that loved shooting his sub 7# 300 WSM Montana with 200gr. Partitions loaded pretty warm.

But I do know several that love them. But they don't shoot as much as I do. It's pretty rare for me to be at the range less than 2 days a week even when it's -20 here in minnesota.

I have one and have shot it a lot and find none of this true about it. The gun is a pleasure to fire with way less recoil than a 3.5 mossberg 835. The trigger break open has never made me bleed or even hit my finger. It is an awesome gun and a pleasure to tote.

Shoots like a sniper rifle and with the Flex-tech stock recoils is fine. You just need to make sure you shoulder the gun well or you can get scoped very easily. It is my go turkey gun in the spring.

People are shaped different, that's why I added that I know others that love them.
I do agree with you on the Encore kicking less than the 3.5" 835. I've never fired a gun of any kind that kicked harder than a 835 with federal 2 1/4 oz. 3.5" loads. But things my be different now. I was 14 then so I'm sure things have changed in the last 26 years.
Guns are like trucks. You know the this ones better than this one, mines better than yours. That's why my rifles wear Mcmillian stocks when 90% of the world is fine with the factory plastic.

In the end only you can decide what the best option for yourself.

I used to hunt with an 835 Ulti mag...I'm not particularly recoil shy. For those of you who are shooting one, what chokes and loads do you prefer...

I'm currently hunting with a 21" 11-87 with a Kicks GT and 2oz. Hevi13 #7's. It patterns awesome, and hammers birds but lighter and a scope are what I'm moving towards.

That's the exact same set up I am running.  I also added a knoxx recoil reducing stock and a Bushnell banner. I like it but am looking at a lighter set up as I weighed my gun today and it came in at 8.6lbs. Wouldn't mind a 6.5- ish pound 20 gauge as I do like to run and gun as well as less recoil.

I run a jellyhead and win longbeard 5s or hevi 7s.
