M2 20ga help

I patterned Trulock HWT 7, Trulock .570 and Trulock .580 through my M2 20 ga. with 26" barrel with Fed Heavyweight #7.   The HVY7 choke averaged about 150 @ 40.  I ended up going with the .570 because the HVY 7 tube was so too tight for my liking at 20 yds. 

Nice thing about the Trulock is the 60 day guarantee.  Pattern a couple send one or all of them back if you don't like them.

When you say you are cleaning between shots, what exactly are you doing? I have a Sumtoy and IC for mine and both will do 175+ without any trouble but I only pull a bore snake through between shots. Doing anything more than that causes my patterns to drop to the 130's.

Tried all different ways from a  brush with hoppes and dry patch, brush and alcohol swabs to just a simple patch and alcohol to even nothing.

Yep....dry bore snake ONLY between shots...absolutely nothing in a liquid form.  Good Luck!

2 parts....cost of TSS and the most important part is finding freaking powder!

Start buying now and you'll be ready before next season.  Powder is be coming more avalible now.  I've bought 6 pounds since January.  The TSS loads are 10 times better then what you can buy and are really easy to get good patterns with it.  Wish I had started loading several years ago.

It's all loaded by hand.  You will need a drill to crimp the shells.  If you have one you can get started for around $150.

The best part about loading your own is if you buy enough components the recipe always stays the same and will never be discontinued.  I'm set for life on everything except the shot.  I buy a little here and there.  That's the most expensive part but you can buy a pound or two every couple of months.  The patterns I posted were the first chokes and first loads I tried.  I'm done.  No more testing or looking for a better choke.  I'm happy and it cost me less than a pound of shot to get my 2 red dots dialed in.

What do your 20 yard patterns look like? is it too tight up close to be able give you those numbers at forty?

I have not personally shot mine at 20 yards but the patterns I've seen with this exact load getting similar numbers in the 40 covered close to a 10" circle.  That load has almost 600 pellets in it vs. 330 in the Federal HW's.

You can use a more open choke if you like a more open pattern.  A lot of guys like the 250 in the 10" and 250 in the 20".
