ff3 not holding zero?

Friend of mine just mounted a new ff3 on a browing A5 with a pic mount and after sighting in with light loads the first turkey load the battery cap comes off and the battery falls out also zero is now bad off so after sighting back in with light loads he try's another turkey load and zero is now bad off again.. All of his screws have lock tight and are tightened has anyone had trouble with this sight holding zero?

i haven't and I've shoot a bunch of turkey loads out of mine. id call Burris and send it back personally

No, but that battery cover is a real pita sometimes...

If it easily popped off, it was not screwed down properly...

It took me literally hours to figure out the cover set-up...

With any sights/scopes, I verify with a laser bore sight before any hints...

When flying, regular scopes are almost always knocked off zero...

No problems so far with a red dot losing zero for any reason...so far...

Battery died on my FF III, almost three years old...

Battery cover didn't feel quite right removing it, not smooth at all...

Go to put it back on, and no go...couldn't get the threading started...

Maybe I cross-threaded a bit?

Threads were dirty, probably from just being in the field...

The hang-up seems to be that the base threading in not fully threaded...there is a space of silicon sealant where the power switch interacts with the battery...

Cleaned everything up...still no go...the cover just would not seat evenly...

I used a little choke tube lube, and was able the get the cover to close without the battery in place...

Still no luck with the battery in place, so I trimmed the black rubber washer under the cover a bit, and was able to get the cover to seat....

I probably should order a new cover some day...

They will probably fix with the Fast Fire IV...

I'm not sure how the a5 goes together, but if it has a mag cap that holds the barrel on you might want to check and make sure it is on tight and staying tight. If it's a little loose it could cause your zero to move around a bit. If it's an older a5 doesn't the barrel moves in recoil? Might be an issue with a receiver mounted sight. I had to exchange my first FFIII, because the battery cover wouldn't tighten down.

I have a FF3 on a Affinity 20. I'm not having any trouble with my battery cover but I do feel that I am having some issues with it holding zero. Everything seems to be tight. I'm shooting off of sand bags and at 20 yards it may shoot in the same spot twice then it will be off. It does it with the low brass and the HW7. Ive tried a couple different chokes as well. I took the FF3 off and ordered some fixed truglo sights to try. Hopefully this fix the issue. Extremely aggravating.

^^^^ be sure your end cap is tight or it will cause that. I tighten as tight as possible by hand then take vice grips and click it one more one. Wrap a the cap with a rag or something to keep from scratching it. If it still does it then I would look into it being the sight. Check base screws and sight screws also. I use blue loctite on them
