Looking for a scratch box
March 18, 2015, 09:53:28 AM
I know with spring rolling in, and turkey season on top of everyone the call makers are more than likely already sold out. I have been looking through the scratch box forum for the last couple of days and decided I would like to try one. If you have one you would like to sell let me know. Thanks

I would check with Mike at Spring Creek Calls. You can't beat the price and sound. Al at SS Customs Calls has some good ones, I have several of his.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

I got to get with Mike on one myself. I got on the scratch boxes about a year ago. Haven't hunted with one yet but our season starts Saturday. They do take some practice. Clucks and purrs are easy and that will get you a bird.

Thanks for the help guys. I just bought one from a member on here, and also I have been messaging back and forth with Mr.Mike. He is fixing to finish one up for me, I don't know enough about different woods and which sounds they are known for just yet, so he is going to pick for me. I'm excited about both calls. Our season opens the 28th, so I might not be calling them in opening weekend, but hopefully I will before season ends. Heck I hope to call a bird in
period.lol
Again thanks for the recommendations.

All good suggestions so far, and I would add Bob Fulcher at Shadetree too - his latest scratchbox design has the same range a long box has - young hen yelps to old gobbler yelps. Its pretty awesome.

A quality paddle caller will most run itself. It just needs someone to carry it around the woods.

Over time...they come to learn how little air a good yelper actually requires.

Midwest should have some SS scratchers in stock and George is great to deal with, in my experience anyway.

I have only a few scratch boxes but been running quite a few. Get an SS when you can. Fantastic
