Inexpensive scales for weighing your Tom

After getting sticker shock from pricing the Rampala digital scales at a local fishing supply store, Lance tipped me to the same unit under the Berkley name at Wal-Mart.  I stopped by Wal-Mart yesterday and found the Berkley 50 lb digital for $19.96 and a Berkley 50 lb mechanical for $4.96.  I bought one of the mechanical scales to keep in the truck with my digital camera and the score sheet Gophert designed and posted.  A good, but inexpensive scale is available if you don't have one. I just picked up one from BPS that's 50lb & has a built in tape for $6.79. It was the BPS branded one.

Shad, must be the same model, the one I bought at Wal-Mart has a small tape measure made into the housing as well.

Probably the same! If I didn't have a gift card I would've never bought from BPS

For any and all considering scale purchases, just remember that the dial type spring scales are only graduated in half pound increments at best.
Digitals typically have pound/oz or pound/100ths of a pound increment capabilities. 

In all fairness, you can not estimate and round any bird weight measurement up on a pound or half pound increment scale, you can only round your weights back to the nearest pound or 1/2 pound mark.  In essence, plan on possibly having to give up one-half of a point in your total bird score.

I have already seen at least one bird posted in another teams kill thread where the weight has been rounded up on the score sheet vs what is actually shown on the dial spring scale picture.  Just so you know, I will probably dispute all weight scores where I see this being done.

I bought one of these off ebay for $5.  It is small, digital, and CHEAP.  However, I must warn you, it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to get it from china.
