Hevi vs lead

I've never shot any hevi shot other than the mag blend in my 935, the mag blends put around 180 in a 10" circle at 40 and the #5 long beards put 195 in a 10" circle at 40. I have a .675 indian creek choke btw. I have some #6 long beards I'm gonna try in a day or 2.

I'm about to order a couple boxes of hevi shot and my question is if my gun shoots the #6 long beards better than the #5s will the hevi 6s do the same and shoot better in my gun than the hevi 5s? I hope that makes sense lol

The Hevi 6's should definitely pattern better than the Hevi 5's.

Hevi is going to do a lot of things better than lead. However both will do the same and that's kill turkeys. It's a matter of preference. I use to shot hevi but went to longbeards and like them. Price was a deciding factor there.

However just set up a 20 gauge and gonna shoot blends and the heavyweights in it.

Now that I've muddied the water shoot what makes you happy but don't listen to any advise that degrades lead or claims it just don't kill turkeys anymore. As a hunter just pattern your gun, keep your shots at a ethical range, and enjoy turkey breasts for lunch. Regardless of shell type!

Thanks guys, Im gonna shoot the #6 longbeard and see how they do.  I've shot the 5s but I've not shot the 6s.. Lets say the 5s shoot better than the 6s in the long beards.. Should I expect the same results with hevi?

LB #6's shot great out of my 835 and IC Choke! If I didn't have a box of Nitros on the way those are what I'd be shooting this spring.

I would not shoot HeviShot any larger than #7s. They throw better patterns than larger shot sizes and have more than enough power to kill birds.
