Mouth call issue

Alright mouth caller guru's, I would really appreciate your assistance.  I have been running mouth calls coming up on 2 years now.  I do not practice turkey talk often.  I keep my turkey calling on ice until ours melts lol.   However, I do run mouth calls for predator hunting. I have no issue running a wide variety of sounds on those.  Also I have managed to call in turkey with mouth calls.  All public land birds so I feel I am doing okay but, I am trying to break the hurdle of okay and good.

Trying to sound out a good two not yelp, I drop my jaw as instructed by many.  When I drop my jaw I loose tongue pressure, then lose seal between the call and roof of mouth.  Is this a problem that goes away with training my mouth and parts to work right?  Or do I have an issue with the calls I have tried (about 40 calls)?

My hunch is both.  I have tried trimming tape a bit.  I found that if I take a little off the sides that is normally best.  If the tape does not go back far enough in my mouth I lose all seal.  After I use a call for awhile a crease forms in the tape.  Often allowing air to escape under the tape (Posted a photo at the bottom of the post).  This makes me question the fit but... I am perplexed on fixing it.  I have adjusted the potion of the call in my mouth but that does not hep.  It fits and feels best when the front of the frame is about 1/4" from touching my teeth. 

Any and all help is much appreciated.

We can work on it at rondy this year. With the way you can run a mouth call for predators I don't know why your having these troubles. Guys', this guy has game! And a good ear.

You can drop your jaw without loosing contact with the call. You should never loose contact with that call while calling. The amount you need to move your tongue to get the sound you are looking for is very small and even though your jaw moves alot your tongue doesn't move that much. A technique to try is what I call the fish. Put your tongue against the roof of your mouth and open and close your mouth without your tongue coming off the roof of your mouth. Also most mouth calls will have creases in the tape depending on the structure of your palate. You might have a narrow palate and a youth frame might work better for you. Do you have to cant or angle the call in your mouth?

I agree with Joe.  Also some calls just work better for some folks.  I personally can getter a broader range and a better double note from a ghost cut.  Now that batwing you have there should be fairly easy to use, however you might want to try a different style or two.

Thanks for the help on with the frame fellas.  The call is canted a bit.  I will keep practicing and then try some more calls.  I have tried about 40 different calls.  This one has been best so far.  I will also try a youth framed call.  Am I limiting myself with a youth frame?  I know there are less styles available but beyond that is there a lack ability with a youth frame?   

This is me on a predator call.  Its a "standard" size frame.  Simple .003 over .004 with with very little side or back tension.   I will try to make a video of the turkey call.  Maybe you guys can pick up on something or tell me I am nuts.
