There is Hope for Birds in the Northeast

I just got back from putting out feed for the turkeys and deer. Four out of six spots were hit hard. All the feed was gone and there was turkey sign. The other 2 were deer only. There was more sign and activity than I expected. I tried 2 new spots and found some sign there so I moved the 2 dry feeders to those spots. I hope it helps. I did not see any birds or hear any but they have been around recently. Temps today were 35-45 and partly sunny. I hope this helps some.

Been feeding a flock of about a dozen hens in my yard for the last two weeks. Still have at least a foot and a half of snow down, not going to even mention the drifts.

What type of feed do you put out? I used my tractor and dug out a spot this weekend and put out deer corn and poultry crumbles. Had a flock of 25 poking around now that they can walk on top of the 3 feet of snow.

Haven't seen or herd to many toms.
Have seen a lot of hens.
Maybe this weekend I will go for a walk, and see if one wants
To talk to me.

Again. But I herd a big gobble down back in my pines.
That sure got my heart race'n.

Southern Maine this morning, 35 and spitting snow. Saw one bird at someones feeder. Still very slow here. No gobbling at 1st light. I tried an owl hooter in 3 spots at daybreak, ZILCH. Oh well, keep at it. Al Baker
