It does fold up and fits in the rear puch of my vest. The Tail fan is removeable. I got it late in the season last year and did not kill a bird. It looks great in the field but really needed a real fan and a real beard. The synthetic beard was really shiny. The synthetic fan looked ok for what it was but nothing beat the real fan. Going to add secondary tail feathers and some plumage in the back. The tail fan mechanism is awesome. Hasn't drawn a bird for yet as it is fairly new but it looks so real.
