Can I shoot  waterfowl loads through my Indian creek choke?  I was thinking about using some #6's so my primary load would be what my gun is patterned for.

Gobble!

I wouldn't shoot steel shot through any of the turkey chokes
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Small steel shot (6s) should not be any harder on a choke than any HTL material (HS HW TSS). But I'm pretty sure you will void the warranty on most chokes if you do so and damage the choke. Large steel shot should never ever be used in a tightly constricted turkey choke due to bridging and the strong likelihood of choke damage. Besides, steel is the poorest ballistic choice possible for killing anything. Very bad idea.

He said waterfowl loads never said it was steel shot. Lots of non steel waterfowl loads out.

tha bugman

Well the Hevi Turkey loads have steel #4's so I guess those are out as well :bike2:

blueridgegobbler

Sure you can I have some hevi shot #4 I have used as a backup and have killed a few missed birds on they fly the will absolutely crush them. They are the higher speed waterfowl loads.

You are correct, he didn't. I'd bet at least 1% of the waterfowl loads sold are not steel.

Ihuntoldschool

I agree with Gobble, better to use the same shells.
