What the heck is THAT thang?

Here is an old photo from 1981 of a turkey that I final subdued with a buddy of mine. My question is, who recognizes that sighting device on my busted shotgun? I got it in 1974 and it was one of the first of its kind, but its descendants are rather common now.

Although it sat rather high off of the gun, the Qwik-Point was a great product back then. The Ithaca that I had it mounted on was the only gun that I had back then and I got the sight primarily for shooting slugs for deer. It was much more accurate than the slugs. It was very rugged, had no batteries to deal with and proved its value for deer, squirrel and turkey hunting.
I let it get away from me somewhere down the line and really wish that I had hung onto it.

My uncle had one on his slug gun way back.
Now you can see on You tube Weaver Qwik point review to see it in action.

Seen one at a gunshow a few months back.
Oh they were proud of it! The price of nostalgia.

Picked up a couple of those over the summer. Paid 20$ a piece for them. Ran one on the 10 gauge this fall season and it worked great. The only problem is they need light to work. I was sitting in the blind on a rainy day and discovered you couldn't see it! Stepped out of the blind and could see it fine. Other than that it worked really good. My Nephew really wanted it for his SKS (lol!) so I gave it to him and put the Trs 25 back on. I still have one that is set up for the old weaver side mount style of base. Might use it down the road for some project, maybe on an old mosin nagant or something!

I saw one last weekend at a gun shop in Kansas...brought back memories. Never had one but always thought they were cool.

That's a cool photo, I really enjoy seeing them. I bought a 336 marlin years ago with one, but I did care for it, so I replaced it with a scope. I also have one that fits the dovetail on 22 rifles, but I've never used it.

Gotta love an Ithaca model 37. The bottom eject make it great for left hand shooters. I had a model 37R with the solid rib down the barrel. It was only chambered for 2&3/4 shells, but I killed a bunch of game with it. Sadly, it was stolen when my house was broken into. It was losing an old friend.
