I may be more of a mixed bag but plenty of use and respect for the lead loads.

Lots of emphasis on number of pellets at 40 yds and how  heavy my shot is.

You would think that they would have tungsten/titanium screen fly swatters by now.

Use what you need for the situation.

I'm still using my old Federal #7 1/2 copperplated rounds...for fall hunting, though.

I'm another lead-head checking in.   I'll be messing around with some Hevi straight 7's this Spring, but I still use lead #6's when hunting a heavily wooded area with tight cover.

I've been switching back and forth from lead to hevi shot.  Last year used 3" 1 7/8oz winchester xx no5 to kill both my birds.  Hevi 3.5 2 1/4oz no 6 in 09 and killed two with it.  Winchester hv 3.5 no6 2oz in 08 to kill my two birds.  This year im wanting to use lead but with a little one running around im thinking hevi since its not bad for you if you injest it.  Or undecided

I realize conventional wisdom dictates to use #6Pb or #6, 7 in HTL; because the 20ga has a much smaller payload compared to the 12ga. Both of my 20ga guns pattern #4 very, very well however, and I'm sticking with what works for me. I KNOW that if the gobbler is within 40yds he is dead meat w/either gun and #4Pb.

I am not the least bit afraid of using 3" 1 3/4 Ounce Win Sup #5 Lead in my 12 Gauge 870 and .665 Indian Creek Choke.

I got my hands on some pre flightcontrol Federal 3" #5's for my 20ga,going to try some of them this year when it starts greening up and it gets close quarters combat

dont feel undergunned at all.I will say if I ever go on hunt where the probability of a 40yd+ shot is likely,I will use the HTL.I just dont have the likelyhood of 40+ where I hunt.usually 30 or less,more times than not less than 20.
