After allot of reading I guess I just need a few folks to verify I'm purchasing exactly what I need. Im old school open sight kinda guy but will be going for a Burris fasfireIII on a mossberg bantam 20ga. I do want a protector. Best I understand I got 2 options either a burris sight with Picatinny mount then buy a picatinny rail to fit the gun or buy a 336 marlin base and a burris without pic mount. With Picatinny it sits higher and with a 336 base it sits lower?? I probably would prefer lower and less bulky look. Also If I find a better deal on the sight with the pic mount could it be removed and still placed on the 336?

Yes it can be removed from picatiny mount and mounted on 336 base, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the fastfire 3 comes with a Rain cover that should give you all the protection you will need just google fastfire 3 rain protector I haven't purchased a ff3 as I have ff2 but from what I'm understanding they come packaged with rain protector

They come with a rain protector, but not protection from lying it down or bumping into anything. I bought the protect for it and cost around 70.00. I'll add a picture

The best option for the Burris Fast Fire is the 336 base.
You can mount the Burris in the protector, then mount it to the base. Cleanest, sharpest look you will find.
I don't have the protector, but I will post up a pic of my setup with my 835.

This is my setup. I had the guys from lost-n-camo do the dipping.

This is the complete setup. I also had them dip my SSX choke tube as well.

Parrish and Lost-n-camo are all I use for dipping. Hard pressed to find better. They won't send it to you until they are satisfied that is perfect.

Thanks yall. Thats what i was looking for. That setup looks low and sweet. Is that a rainguard you dipped also? Those guards cover the sight different than the ff2. Do they hold on very well? Its hard to put 70bucks in a burris protector. Anybody recomend loctite or anything at all on mounting screws? Thanks again

Thanks! I did have it professionally dipped, and yes, they hold very well. No issues thus far.
I would use blue Loctite and torque your screws to 14lbs, which is what Burris recommends.
Good luck. They are great sights!

Nice shotgun chatterbox!
Thanks! She is a great companion in the spring woods!

I got Chatterbox's picatinny rail and mounted it on my daughter's gun.

Does well for us.

Tape is where the aim point is, only 30 yards though.

Well I got my fastfire in the mail. Mounted the 336 base just fine then with my luck I stripped one screw when mounting the sight to the base. I didn't over tighten either. The screw never got even snug. I had read it on here some others had stripped the same screw. Sure as everyone on here also stated Burris has best customer service in the world. I contacted them and no questions asked. New base is in the mail. Big thanks to Burris.

Burris and customer service. i currently have a ff2 and a ff3 on my dedicated turkey guns. a couple years ago i stripped a screw in the base my fault. I contacted Burris to by a new base for the ff2 and they said no. They sent me a new base no charge. that's customer service and that's why I have 2 now !
Thanks, RP
