I like Cherry over Butternut, Yellowheart over Black Limba and Purpleheart over Cherry.

Kwila and Butternut.... I have one from Jeff McKamey that does everything from kee kee to gobbler yelps... Liked it so much he made my son a set for Christmas...I have several different combos from Marlin Watkins but they all have their own sound... The cedar lid and butternut body made by Mr Watkins sound like an awesome gobbler yelping...

I have a maple over butternut from SS Custom Calls.  I just let Al pick the combo and it worked out great!!!

bloodwood over walnut or butternut, cedar over poplar, I've also got a zebrawood over walnut that's a good'un too!

Osage over butternut, walnut over butternut, or cedar over butternut.

I have a Ralph Snodgrass maple over persimmon that has kee-kees to gobbler yelps packed in it.

I have a Ipe over butternut that I reallyl like made by marlin.  And I have a zebra wood over Alaskan yellow cedar from Jeff mc kamey that I use a lot . I use the Ipe ,butternut in the fall, nice kee kee's into raspy yelp's  I think I would get ahold of some callmaker's and tell them what sound you are looking for.weather it be kee kee's and raspy yelps or gobbler yelps. They will steer you in the right direction.
