Well, I tried to bow hunt last week, and I wasn't quite prepared to do so. It was hot, and I thought about the snakes still moving, so I looked in the farm closet and got out the pair of Lacrosse snake boots I had bought in 2005 for a trip to Texas.
I had only wore them for a week trip there, and a few times since. Well, they fit nicely, and I was on my way to the stand. I had some trimming of surrounding tree limbs as I was going up the ladder, and I used some pruning sheers which came in a black case.
I was worried the case would come out of my quiver pocket, and sure enough about the top of the ladder, I heard something hit the ground. Looking down I saw the black outline of the case on the ground. O'well onto the stand.
After getting my bow pulled up, and things settled in, I turned away from the tree to face out towards the area I wanted to hunt. I lunged forward on the platform, as there was nothing under the front of my right boot. It was as if I had a stick under the heal of my boot!! My right heal was way too high.
After a closer look I found half of my boot sole was gone!! From the mid arch to the toe... completely gone. That was what hit the ground. The glue after nine years wasn't any good, and the boot just came apart.
Much like my boot, our Spiritual lives often come apart without a good glue or foundation in our lives.
Matthew 7:24-27 (NKJV)
Build on the Rock
24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Are you reading the Word each day? Are you studying what God would have you to do? Are you applying to your head, your knowledge, and your heart, the good Word, or are you taking in garbage from some other source?
Father God,
Forgive me of being inconsistent in my daily reading of Your Word Forgive me of spending more time in other things, rather than soaking up Your sayings. I feel sometimes, we as Christians take for granted what we have at our disposal, because it is offered freely, and we give nothing for it. Yet You gave it all, Your life, and death on the cross.
Help us to be better servants, better stewards of our gifts from You. Let us use our talents and abilities to Your glory, and not our own. May we build our life upon You, and may our footing be sure, using you as our foundation and Cornerstone in our lives. May we be complete and equipped for Your works.
To You be the honor and glory.
For it is in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, we ask and claim these things, Amen!!
God Bless,
David B.
