Looking around I read that you can use Hevi Shot that is 2 sizes smaller other say it is 1 size smaller.  What do you believe?

5 lead-7 Hevi
6 lead-7 Hevi

I grabbed a box of Long Beards in 6 today and wonder what the effective range is of the round if the pattern holds strong.

Devastator

Fed HW 7's!!!!I believe in!!

To be honest its to each his own.

In lead I like 5s or 6s.

In hevi I like 6s or 7s.

In HW I like the 7s and would love 8s if available.

In TSS I like the 8s alot and alos use the 9s in the 20 and soon the .410

You can get a idea of how the shot sizes go down when density increases.

I use 6's. You'll just have to pattern and test what works for you.

A #6 lead pellet will have the same energy with a given muzzle velocity at a given distance.  Hence, extended range is false advertising.  The Longbeards do give a superior pattern and I really like that at 35 yards and in.

Hevi 13 31/2 2-1/4 6s are mean. They flat out work.  Win lead 6s are mean.  Fed hw 7 are mean.  You don't need htl to stomp turkeys, but Ill admit, I like it.  Not so I can shoot farther, but because I would much rather have a very dense pattern of small shot than a less dense, bigger shot.  6s have just patterned very well for me in many guns, chokes, and barrel lengths

You load TSS in 410? What are you shooting with it?

Tss 9s + 410 = DEAD TURKEY

Any of those should be deadly for as far as the pattern holds up.

This^  Hevi, Fed HW or good ol' Lead all work.  Sure you can stretch it a bit farther with HTL but the game is getting them close not sharp shooting them.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

DirtNap647

I like 5 for lead 6 for hevi

I was thinking the TSS in a 410 would knock the hell out of bunnies. Might be a little pricey for that though.

lead     #5,#4
hevi 13  #5,#6
Fed HW  #6,#7
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I use Hevi-shot magnum blends. So I get a little bit of all of it 5's,6's, and 7's.
