Went to the same field I killed my first bird this year hoping the rain would bring me luck like it did last time. Well I wasn't disappointed, around 7:15 I spotted a long beard at the far end of the field in full strut as he entered the field. As I was watching him I noticed his hen was already in front of him and heading off in the opposite direction. The long beard turned and began strutting in my direction, as he did i guess his hen didn't want any part of that and ran back to him and past him in my direction. She began yelping loud and I began to mimic her. He went NUTS!!!! Every time me and the hen began calling to each other he rolled off the gobbles. The hen stopped about 25 yards behind the decoys and angled left toward the woodline. As she walked towards the woods he broke strut and followed, I tried my hardest to keep him coming but he was locked on to his hen. As he was about ready to exit the field I called again and he gobbled. He then followed the hen into the woods. As he entered the woods I picked up my Haint and gobbled at him, he immediately gobbled back. I yelped and he gobbled and I again cut him off with a gobble of my own. He then re entered the field, ALL BY HIMSELF!!!! At that time I knew what was about to happen, he began closing the distance fast coming straight to the DSD jake doing the mean walk. When he got to the jake he went into full strut and began to put the beat down on, after knocking the jake onto its side he jumped on top of it and was about ready to start pecking....BOOM TIME!!! Shot him while he was standing on top of the jake.

Why shoot a 3.5"? Because they don't make a 4".

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Congrats. What is a Haint?
I love golf. It keeps a lot of people out of the turkey woods.
