We held our 9th annual hunt for the physically challenged yesterday and once again we were able to pull off an incredible hunt. 8 years running now with at least one successful hunter!

This hunt was previously held under NWTF sponsorship but with the local chapter closing the Bedford Outdoor Sportsman Association is now sponsoring the hunt.

14 hunters attended, 5 birds were taken and 3 other hunters had close calls with one actually passing on a jake.
The HIGHLIGHT of this hunt was getting a gentleman who is blind a shot at a longbeard, and yes he connected!

Quote of the day from one of the hunters... "This whole event was as professional as any hunt that I could ever have the privilege to attend, it was better than Christmas!"

Enjoy the pics.

Hunt is held in memory of my friend and mentor who I know was looking down on us yesterday.

Different group...same results!

Successful hunters and their guides

Another great hunt in Bedford!

Prepping birds for the group photo

Bill Garst with a double bearded jake.

Chris Shelton with his 2nd longbeard in 2 years hunting with us.

Bruce O'Rourke with his longbeared

Davy Balderson with the 3rd bird he's taken on our hunt

Last but not least, Charles Tucker with his first ever spring gobbler.
Mr. Tucker is blind, his wife acts as his spotter and whispers to him where to position his gun for the shot. Now THAT'S quite an accomplishment!!!

Hunters, guides and other volunteers gather for lunch afterwards.

Good for you and everybody involved. Congratulations to all the hunters, guides, and sponsors.  You all truly get it.  Having physical challenges makes hunting more difficult than it already is.  Genuine kindness and generosity helps make successful hunting opportunities that much sweeter.  Is there some way I could contribute to future hunts?

Luck counts, good or bad.

Thanks Jim! Don't know where you're located but we're in Bedford, VA. We're always looking for new farms in our area to hunt. If you're a call maker we accept donated calls to help us raise money at out banquet.
