Goop question

I'm going to be glueing a pot call together that is going to be coated with dewaxed shellac first. Has anyone had any experience using goop on surfaces that may have some small amounts of dewaxed shellac on it? Its really hard to paint the small lip that stands above the edge of the playing surface without getting some on the place you plan to put glue.

If goop sticks to dewaxed shellac would it be best to just coat the entire pot call inside and out?

  My advice would be to dip he entire call then, take 120 grit sandpaper and rough the surfaces for the tone board and playing disc. I use an oil finish myself, but it's the same thing, get the oil or varnish off

after I'm done finishing my pots and they are ready for gluing, I use a small pocket knife and run over the surface's to be glued to rough them up a bit.  As for applying gloop.  I go down to the local drug store, and get a bunch of those oral shrines.  They give them away at the prescription counter.  They are smaller than the medical ones, and don't come with a needle to get rid of.  Put a small amount of goop in it, and apply to the ledge of the call.

X2 on the syringes... Another location could be Tractor supply or southern states 6ML ( no needles) 35 cents and makes putting the goop bead neater

Here is a tip for ya......save yourself a lot of time by placing a piece of slate, glass, ceramic or whatever it is you are going to glue into the pot, then apply your finish. You could use a spring clamp to hold the piece in place. Or.....take some painters tape, the good stuff, and go around the ledge, there are many options.
