Went out this morning and soon after getting settled in, a Tom popped out of the brush and gave me and a buddy a great show but hung up out around 60 yards for what seemed like a couple of hours.  He wandered off, wouldn't come check out the DSD jake and hen.

We had a jake come by and before he could make his way to us, two large birds chased him off. I hit them with a few yelps and they started a fast walk toward our setup.

I readied my bow and when they reached the dekes I drew. They didn't like that and quickly turned around.  I anchored the larger bearded bird with a 125 grain Magnus bullhead. My buddy toting his shotgun took the other beard which ended up having bigger spurs, weighed more and had a full fan. We're thinking beard rot ??

Anyhow here's a short video:  http://youtu.be/wHx07t6XYvQ

Our birds. Mine was 17lbs, 8.5" beard, 13/16" spurs

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
