Which is more beneficial?

I'm looking to do some "up-grades" to my mossy 535 this up coming off season. I'm going to get my barrel ported and either the forcing come lengthen or back bored. Which is better or has better results? I'd like to shoot 3.5" in it but this thing has some unreal recoil with the short 20" barrel.

Sell it and get a 835. You'll spend a lot of money on the 535 to get the features that 835s offer out of the box. Which include the ported oversized barrels.

x2.  I'm not sure how much the 535 costs but I noticed in my local walmart last month an 835 with 24" ported barrel, all camo, and fiber optic sights for $387.00.

I'd say the same thing as above, but maybe this dude wants to trick out his 535. If so I would say the porting is not so much the priority.  Maybe a Limbsaver recoil pad would be beneficial as well!

I like my 535 turkey thug. I bought it over the 835 for a reason. It suits my style of hunting much better. It's short and light for those all day running and gunning. I realize the 835 is a front runner in our sport but just liked the 535 more. I'd like to "trick out" my turkey slayer to make it the best it can possibly be just for the turkey, we owe it to them to do our part to be as ethical as possible. I'm not chasing pellet numbers just trying make it pattern the best that it can while taking some of the beating away. I don't care what gun you shoot, those 3.5's pack a punch on both ends!

I hope I wasn't offensive in my first post. Sure wasn't trying to be.

I would say that if you really want to trick it out get it ported and then have the forcing cone extended. Not sure how much you're wanting to spend but Rob Roberts seems to be reasonable on his prices and I've never heard any negative reviews on his work.

If nothing else you could call and ask him what he recommends. Very friendly people to so business with.

Oh not at all, I've got pretty thick skin. I was just giving my reason why I had choose the 535 over other turkey slayers. I'm just mainly looking for some insight on the two options.

Be doing some reading now that I've gotten some free time. Just from what I've read it seems that lengthening the forcing cone has better positive results vs back boring. It seems that back boring has the chance of actually making patterns worse. I would love to see some pattern pics of before and after lengthening the forcing cone if anyone has any.
