We did get on strutter to come in but he strolled in silent and didnt strutt untill he passed by and seen the hen decoy...

Any advice for those public silent birds? why so silent when couple miles down the road there vocal as can be already (im in missouri).

Be persistent.  Hunt them as long and often as you can.  Mid day and mid week could be the ticket.  As far as the gobbling go's, sounds like turkeys being turkeys.  Could have just been one of those days.  They could have been hammering it the next day.   Just stay after them.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

thanks! yeah they were silent sat and sunday the woods were empty other than us too for some strange reason.  sunday it was thunderstorms here as well and we went to the field hoping for the best lol

Sounds like your doing it right...just keep after them. Try your best to let them gobble on their own so you can know the actual temp of the bird and then mimic them in the tone you portray. keep us updated in how your hunts go!!!

thanks guys will do!  so just one more question i hear people say call calm and call agressive.. the calm i s self explanitory lol but what do they mean when they say agressive like every 5-10 mins? or just more agressive cuts and yelps?  sorry for the newb question!

Gooserbat

Combination of both.  To me aggressive calling means loud obnoxious yelps and some (very little) cutting more frequently.  That said a plain 5 note yelp and patience will kill more turkeys than all the fancy stuff combined.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I personally like silent public birds if I know where they are. Thats a plus IMO. Everyone else that hunts around you will only hear a boom if you know there are turkeys in your area and they don't. I like to only hear a couple of gobbles from a bird that has alot of people around, cause the less noise he makes, the less likely he is to gobble up another hunter or a hen.
