Got a 24" mossberg 835 3 1/2". Want to shoot heavy straight 7s and wanted some suggestions on a good choke for this setup

pure gold .670 give me my best with that combo

Here's some at the top of the list: pure gold .670, stardot .676, indian creek .675, sumtoy, ssx.  The over bored 835 barrels seem to like the chokes in the .670 to .680 range.  I shoot the straight 7's in my 835 with the Pure Gold.

I've tried a lot of different chokes in my 835, 935 and SSi-ONE, all have the over bored .775 barrel. The Hevi-13 turkey choke, Pure Gold and SSX have always given me the best patterns.

I'm in the process currently of evaluating the new 835 with the Matthews Harmonic Dampner Recoil Reduction System and I'm shooting a variety of shells and chokes with this new gun. So far, it seems to like the same chokes that my other over bored Mossbergs like.

If I had to pick just one, I'd have to choose the SSX.

Thanks,
Clark

I have the Indian creek .675 and I like it. All of the above info is very good!

I have the Pure Gold .670 shooting Hevi 3 1/2 #7 in my 835.  Didn't count the hits, but it looked similar to my son's target.   His 935 put 344 in the 10 at 40.

Hevi 13 choke or ssx. Both are easy to find and shoot great

The best shooting Hevi-13 3.5" #7 choke I have shot hands down is the Star Dot .676 choke I have.  I'll show you the backside of a target I shot at a tape measured 40yds.

hevi...is that a 10 inch circle...?

There was 360 in the 10" and 556 in the 20" on that pattern above.

Here is the target from the front.

The Pure Gold .670 choke I had would shoot good patterns.  A matter of fact the the first shot out the choke did 357 in the 10" and 573 in the 20".  But here is the kicker.  It never would duplicate that pattern for consistency.  And the other shots I tried came nowhere near those numbers.  The Star Dot choke will just simply put keep on producing great 10" and 20" numbers with the same exact loads over and over again.

Case in point.

361 in the 10" and 547 in the 20"

If I had to choose another choke that I would say for the money would be next in line behind the Star Dot choke for numbers, I would have to pick the Truglo SSX .670.  I hear the Hevi-13 choke .676 and the TruGlo Bone Collector .670 shoot very well with the Hevi-13 3.5" #7 loads.  I have both of these chokes but I haven't tested them.
