Any difference at the patterning board? I have 3 of the old HV 1 3/4 5's left. Bought new box today of the HV  1 3/4 5's. They say XX on the box and the shell.( black shell). Hoping they are the same thing

They are the same. I don't know why they had to change the box, I guess to try and confuse people. Don't know why when the XX always meant red 3" 2oz. And 3.5" 2.25oz. shells. Guy on another forum cut the old black HV shell and the new black XX shell open and posted pics, all components and powder charge are the same.

Thanks for the info.  My gun will be loaded to the gills with them in the morning. This is what makes this website awesome. There is no way I could find out that information. Old Gobbler and the members are the best. Appreciate the help.

You have just about got to shoot them at the pattern board to see. Sadly, thats what I hate about shooting factory ammo from the big names.
