Ever measured a turkeys leg to see what the width of them run on average? Do that and then you will have a pretty fair baseline to estimate off of. 1 1/4" give or take an 1/8th.

if you can imagine this the upper one on the right is 1 15/16 the below is 1 1/16.  i would venture to guess on yours 1 1/2 or more???
