Little info on Win LB

ok with all the talk as of late about the Win Long Beard.  I tested in somewhat warm temps and got good numbers.  Now I see the warmer temps and some of the numbers show up that are a little high and some that are crazy.   Now this got me to thinking it is temperature sensitive shell. 

Now today it was 43 with wind blowing about 90mph I think. LOL Had Ice all over this morning and a lot of damp air.   The shells fall off big in the cold so this brings up some concern.  I think it has something to do with the resin. 

Now funny thing is the chokes today was 650, 660, 665 and 682.   Patterns was 141,143,144,148 out of 20 inch gun.   Now after that we shot the A5 that normal runs 190 to 200 in temps of 60 only ran 160 in the cool damp air.  So all the patterning we do we need to hold off until it warms to around what we hunt in.

I've always known that warmer weather produces better patterns....but that's some pretty drastic differences!!!

That is a good observation.  Would be interesting to take a couple of pieces of the unshattered resin, one at room temperature and the other refrigerated or maybe even frozen to see how much tougher it is when cold.  If it won't shatter as well when cold it is going to make a big difference in cold weather patterns.

No info on which lb shell; 3" or 3.5" and which shot size?

Be interesting to see what the LB patterns look like at 80-90 degrees like it is the last half of season here in MS. 3.5's 6's may go over 300 in the right setup.  Seein 260's and higher claims in 40-50 degree weather with the LB 3.5 6's.

Those are actually still solid numbers for Lead.  I'm afraid that Longbeard has reignited the numbers game that Hevi13 #6's, #7's, and Magnum Blend blew open a few years ago.  It's off to the races again!!!  We're all so spoiled now.  I can't wait to read about guys being disappointed about getting "only" 175 with a Lead shell in warm weather.

SumToy seems to have these LongBeard shells figured out.  He has "the" choke for that shell.  Good for him.  You guys need to call SumToy and stock up on those shells.  If'n I wasn't so po' right now..........but I'm working on getting myself a Class A CDL.  I have other priorities at the moment.  One day though.........

No kidding!I'll be more than pleased to get the numbers he's getting now in warm weather.140's will be a solid shooter for hunting.

The wind deal has had me thinking.  I have seen some odd shape hole and some odd looking patterns.  I think some of the patterns have holes from the resin.  Now as light as it is the wind would blow it off the and not affect the lead shot.  I will try to find a warm windy day or a cold clam day to test this.

I was just going to say this. I have hunted 20 degrees up to 85 degrees on may 1 in NY. This year I see it being a bit chilly. We will see.

We cut one open this morning at the convention and I've never seen a column like that..the resin/epoxy thing is crazy.  Hard as a brick too!  Its working though.  Many are worried about missing up close with this load now apparently.  Some great and tight patterns are being shot, so there is little room for error up close.
Winds how long before other shell companies branch off of this idea?  I was told that he I shot is working on some new developments as well, so it could get interesting.

3" 870...good luck on your cdl!.. I went through a tech school to get mine and it was a neat and nerve racking experience.  Learn all the major parts on the truck/trailer and know that dang brake test!!

Ok guys we shot them today in the warm wind today.   I do think that it is the temps not the wind that is doing it.  It was in the mid 60's today and the patterns came back.  So now is it the resin harder in the cold and don't brake up the like it does in the warm temps.  Time will tell as the test goes on.
