I'm getting15-20 hit differences from shot to shot. anybody else seeing this? 835, ported 24",IC 675 and JH 690.

Are you running a brush or bore snake between shots to remove fouling?

You will get that with any brand of various size loads.  That goes for Hevi-13 and lead loads regardless if it is the same exact lot number, too.

Every shot with a shotgun is different when shooting lead shot . That is pretty sporty to be that close.

The time when this is a big problem is when you are dealing with 80 in the 10 with a +/- swing of 15-20.

I see.Never counted pellets until hevi and xtended came out. xtended was always pretty close. drop a few when I ran a bore snake through then jump back up after that.

So I'm guessing the more uniform shot size and shape is what made the xtended so consistent. And I guess its more noticeable with the lower numbers. 300 to 250 don't make much difference

15-20 is pretty normal, even for Hevi. The only time I have gotten consistent numbers is after cleaning the barrel after every shot and the weather conditions were perfect.

Another example for you

You can chronograph rifle ammo from the same factory box or even reloaded ammo and still notice fluctuation in fps.  No ammo will shoot the exact same speed shot after shot.  Now you may be able to get the extreme spread within 10-20fps if it is meticulously handloaded and each bullet weighed and the same goes for each powder charge and keep everything else in reloading process equal as well.  But variations will still occur in the process of how the powder burns and the primer ignites.  It's just the way it is.  The same goes for shotgun ammo if you were to shoot and count each and every shot in a 10" at 40yds.  Temp changes will drastically affect shotgun patterns as well.  Major differences in elevation will also drastically affect shotgun patterns.  I would say that humidity will have some effect as well.  There's just a lot of different variables.  The more you have, the more the difference in what variations you will notice.

Could it be with your two different restrictions of chokes and at what distance are you shooting these at.

Most all our patterns have ran about the same from gun to gun.   Now I did find that the 5's are a little so so.  I like the 4's or the 6's.

I am getting very consistent patterns with only a two or three pellet difference between shots.  I attribute the three pellect difference to maybe flinching a little after sending a few rounds down the barrell.
