I was wondering why eveyone likes the Burris sights so well? I was at Bass Pro today as saw several others at a lower price. Does anyone use a differant one other than Burris? I have never used any of these kinds of sight and was wondering what would work best at a good price? Thanks Sam

I use open sights (Williams fire sights & Mil spec ghost ring sights) and I have often wondered the same thing!!!  If your vision is impaired then I can certainly understand using a low power scope,  But, I personally do not see the advantage in the Burris sights especially for the amount of $$$ ....but, to each his own!!!

having never used sights I can't say, but we're only talking forty yards so I've never seen a use for them.

I use Williams fire sights but would love to try burris ff 2 or 3 I think that there is a reason why a lot of people use them

In my opinion, there is no better value in red dot sights than the Fast Fire series. They are light, small, waterproof, and tough as a tank.
I have tried virtually every red dot on the market, and I found my favorite to be the FFIII. With the improvements over the locking screws gone, and click adjustments for windage and elevation, this tiny sight has it all. It can take the punishment of magnum rounds without any problems, and wherever the dot is, this where your pattern will hit.
I also like just having to put one dot on the neck vs. trying to line up 3, and keep my head down on the stock.
They are a little pricier than other red dots, but you get what you pay for, and now they come with a Burris forever warranty.
That's why I run with an FFII on my son's 20, and a FFIII on my 12. I believe these sights played a big part in our success this past spring.
Do you need them? No. Do they help? For that I give a resounding yes.

That is why I'm going to get one

I use a reflective sight because the dense part of my pattern doesn't necessarily line up with the bead on my barrel and if I'm not tight down on the gun I don't have to worry about missing. If the dot is on his noggin that's where the dense part of the pattern is going.
I chose Burris because of the quality of the product, tough, water proof small, light weight and choice of dot size. I also know the quality of the Burris customer service and there is not another optics company that offers a reflective sight that does a better job of service after the sale. Also, the price of the Burris is lower than other similar sights such as, Doctor or Leupold, and they don't carry the lifetime warranty.

I'm with the others here, wherever you put that dot is where the densest part of your pattern will hit once sighted in. Plus it gives me something to concentrate on when staring down the gun barrel at a gobbler instead of pulling off my target when I pull the trigger

They make a quality product and have great customer service. They are a sponsor here, I believe, which is why they are so popular on this site.

For all the above reasons and fantastic customer service.
But for me most of all, my aging eyes. I can no longer focus rear sight/ front sight / turkey head.
With the fast fire
I now just focus on the bird and put the dot where I want to shoot .
They are awsum!
Some of the older guys know what I'm talking about with the eyes and aging. I can see fly dung on pepper at 1,000yrds. But I can't read the news paper with out glasses.
This was an even bigger problem shooting my bow and using a peep. I could not focus the pins and target. I now use a clarifier type peep( a lens inside the peep) Wow again... What a difference.
The younger guys will be there one day.

The real question is, why not Burris?  ;)

Great sight!

I travel and hunt 4-10 states each spring.

I can't tell you how many toms were taken with the help of the Fast Fire.  It would pretty much suck to go all that way to miss...

Remember, it's not always pixie dust & fairy balls out there...there is rain, snow, wind, and sometimes all at the same time...
