I have always had my eye on this little gun and think i am going to pick one up...I had a .410 single shot for grouse hunting for years that i regret selling,this 12 gauge will be used on the odd turkey hunt and will be my main grouse gun when i am moose hunting up north.I love my single shot tc encore muzzle-loading shotgun but i want to try this gun and add it to my collection...Anybody turkey hunting with one?

I shot one many years ago, my hunting buddy and I both bought one, we took turns holding it on each other to make us shoot it. Brutal on the shoulder. Use the light loads for Grouse, but use anything else to shoot Turkey loads.

haha,yeah i heard and read about the kick...i used to shoot 3.5" from my 10 gauge for geese and turkeys..."used too"...i will put an aftermarket recoil pad on it for sure...

Great little guns. My buddy has one in 20 ga with a fixed full choke that is 1 sweet little turkey gun.It patterns great w FED HW #7s. Very rugged and reliable guns. And you can send your gun in to H&R and have them put on the shotgun barrel  of your choice for a little over $100. personally i would get 1 in 20ga with interchangeable chokes. If you can find a used 1 for a decent price i would go that route to save money and im not positive but i think the older ones are higher quality than the new ones.Same deal with 870s. Would make a great turkey gun regardless.

     Great gun! I got a Truglo SSX in mine and it shoots!!! and a joy to carry. mine is in old school bottomland and its at SumToy right now getting Refle Sights on it and the forcing cone lengthed. William said it would help a good bit so i figured for $35.00 what the heck. I can remember the first time i shot a 3.5 Mag Blend from it, I thought for sure that Mike Tyson just sucker punched me LOL!!! but there is someting about those singles. I got a 10 gauge, a 20 gauge youth and a 12 gauge all  H&R's and in Old School Bottomland!

i'm leaning towards the 12 gauge with camo stock,i would like to get it with a barrel i can change the choke out on it so i can buy a few aftermarket turkey chokes to run in it...from what i read,it is possible to buy the camo stock in 12 gauge with screw in chokes,unless i am reading it incorrectly..But i will be going with a 12 ga,i have plenty 20 ga already,i actually picked up a Hatsan-escort 20 gauge semi in Mobu last  spring for bird hunting...i sent an email this afternoon to the place where i want to buy it,says it is in stock..so we will see.

Those guns have some of the best barrels of any guns on the market. They are straight, concentric and very smooth.

I've shot several turkeys with my 20 gauge version of that gun. Mine has a fixed full choke. I did have the chamber lengthened to 3" otherwise it's "stock".

It's light, quick and within reasonable ranges, very deadly.

i just received an email,the gun i asked about does not have a screw in choke option,just the 10 ga..now i am thinking,maybe i want the 10 ga..i don't want to buy the 12 ga and not be able to get a great pattern out of the "fixed" choke..

so a few more emails back and forth and i think i am going to pass on this for a turkey gun and later on this summer pick up another .410 for grouse hunting.I am just going to buy a different choke for my Winchester 1300,try and re-do the finish with some Mossy Oak gun skin and be happy for this spring...The 1300 has been collecting dust the last 3 springs,only been on a few hunts and i'm going to try and kill a bird with it this spring..

I have one stock an shoot hevi shot 3 1/2" #6's. It's a kicker but I only shoot it at turkey's. Killed a bird at 43 yards with bead sight.

There is a 12 Gauge model with screw-in Invector threads.  Might be H&R, might be New England Firearms.  I think it has a 3.5" chamber.

My son has an nef partner 12g 3" single we set up for turkey.Put a truglo reddot on it with a monte carlo stock and an old mark bansner truglo .665.Patterns are excellent with a variety of loads.recoil is very stout but we use a lead sled type of rest to pattern from.It's a nice light maneuverable gun.They are inexpensive to set up and a lot of fun to hunt with.And the trigger pull was very good on ours right out of the box,i'm guessing around 4.5#.Definatley a good setup to consider if moneys tight or if you have to do a lot of walking.Good luck!

My friend turkey hunts with a 3 1/2" NEF. I'm envious of the carry weight and simplicity. On the other hand I watched another friend pattern his with 3" buckshot and it looked miserable. He put it back in his truck and said he had enough and opted to carry a much heavier gun in the woods. That being said, I never notice recoil when actually shooting an animal.  If I saw one for the right price, is grab it

for what they are asking in price for it(Nef Pardner),i am just going to add a mossy oak camo skin to my black winchester 1300 and put a new choke on it.it's just going to be a backup turkey gun that maybe gets out for 3-4 hunts a year.I haven't used my Winchester 1300 turkey hunting since 2008 so i am excited to give it a make over and save about $225.00 in the process....thanks for the replies,it has always been in my mind that i want the  single shot but i am going to pass right now...

i have thought about it and i am going with the 10 gauge model with screw in chokes..i plan on using the mossy oak camo skins and doing the full gun in camo,adding an aftermarket recoil pad and choke..i still plan on getting the 1300 set up as well but i figure..i wanted a single shot turkey gun to go with my Tc and now i will have it...
