i'm in nashville for a yr and looking for a place to hunt turkeys this spring.  i have a small deer/turkey lease in KY that should allow for an opportunity or two up there.  however, haven't found much here in TN though the turkey numbers seem high.  i've had a few people mention having turkeys and letting me hunt em but nothing definitive.

anyone know about good public land or lease/camp opportunities? i'm thinking about putting in for public land draw but have no clue how to rank these places.

thanks in advance

Hey string. I live in Tullahoma, which is about an hour southeast of Nashville. We have a WMA called AEDC that has a very decent flock of turkeys. Most all their hunts are Friday,Saturday,&Sunday every weekend of season. There is no draw system but you do have to sign in and out of every weekend hunt. I've killed several birds there over the years and it is a fun place to hunt if you can get away from the community holes. It is also fairly easy to find since it starts right off I-24. PM me your number sometime and I'll send you mine and I'll tell you where to start looking.

Great hunting there for sure.  Try to hit it mid April.

Don't over look
Stewart State Forest
Blue Ridge Mountains
Fort Campbell
You have your LBL quota hunts along with other WMA.

Put some effort in before season and just don't show up and you will be fine.  What ever you learn this year use it to your advantage the next.

Good luck and respect others...a truck parked in an area equals a hunter...drive on and leave them alone until you get there first!

thanks for the advice.  i've done a bunch of turkey and deer hunting on public ground in MS so i know the drill.  having said that, some of the places in ms aren't worth hunting deer or turkey or both so nice to know that before wasting a weekend when you don't have many.

been searching craig's list for a turkey lease or trespassing rights but most of the folks pretty proud of their land.  guess i don't blame em.  i'll put in for the draw and see what happens and go from there and thanks again for your time and replies.
