Shot some patterns today 40yds. 40 degrees.

870 Jh 665 H13 #7 3.5" 2.25 = 197
1187 jh 665 H13 #7 3" 2oz = 191
1187 tightwad 660 H13 #7 2oz = 174

I have been shooting the 870 with the Nitros 4x5x7 and running
around = 250.

I was trying to get away from the Nitros and go with the H13s.  How can I improve them?  Is the 660 JH going to make that much difference?

390 20 ga.  PG 570 HW 1.5 oz #7 = 163 (pleased with this new pick up)

I have spent a fortune on different chokes trying to get the hevi's to compete with the nitros and I just cant get them close.  The best I have got with the hevi 7's is 170-180 and the nitros count is 200-225 out of a twenty ga.  Good Luck!
Theres no dollar sign on a piece of mind!

polish your barrel, it will help.
Good things come to those who wait

My 870 seemed to pattern better with the JH.660 then the JH.665 shooting  H-13 #7s,but as you know each ones different and mine has a 24inch barrel. For the money try it or maybe even a different brand of choke altogether.

You have to account for the extra shot in the nitro's too. 1 1/4oz vs 1 7/16oz. IMO, If the H-13's were loaded with the same amount of shot, you could probably get the same general patterns.

your going to find much smaller shot in the nitros as well

gophert

with a JH .660 you should see closer to 300 with the 3.5" #7's
However, at 40 degrees it is going to be tough to get great numbers.

Ditch the Jelly Head and go with a .670 Indian Creek.

In your situation... Polish your barrels and wait for warmer temps.  You will see a difference.

I have been  reading about the Indian Creek chokes. Like most of you I have spent enought money on chokes to go on a nice guided turkey hunt. I bought a .665 IC and tried Heavy shot in 5,6,7's. the fives did best out at 40 yards and also 25. I was told that the new 7's were great. They did a nice job but, nobody told me they kicked like a Georgia mule...LOL....i am just wondering if another shell would work better. No telling how many chokes I've bought trying to get that little edge. Good Hunting,,,,Blue John.....

Well I just bought a .660 Jelly Head that everyone raves so much about.  I hope it shoots a lot better than the Jelly Head .665 in my 870.  I'll shoot it and test it against the Indian Creek .669,  MAD Super MAX .675 choke and Rem Ventilator .655.  We will see if it lives up to all the hype.   :z-guntootsmiley:

And any gun that will consistently(time and time again) put 300 shot at a true 40yds in a true 10" circle with any Hevi-13 load, I myself would like to be there to shoot it just so I can say I seen it live.

Yes I did.  It shot no better than the .665 Jelly Head.  About 205 shot in a 10" from the Hevi-13 2oz #7 loads.
