Take a look at Philippians 4:6-7. The promise of this verse is just awesome! "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
My favorite helpful scripture in the Bible, being "anxious" or worried about life's situations and choices isn't something new to anyone, people get stressed out over many things, jobs, money, family, seem to be the three most causes of stress. No one is excluded, but everyone can find that much needed R-E-L-I-E-F by following a few simple rules.
Reach out to God....Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments, and if you do this I will ask the Father for an advocate that will help you and be with you forever. One such commandment was to seek out God when you are faced with troubles. Expecting results....Jesus says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you"... one cannot pray without expecting positive reaction from God, it takes Faith and Patience, trusting God can be hard when we try to rush His works in our life, but we are only human, remember this, when you reach out to God expect Him to reach down to us. Listen with our hearts.... And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. We need to quit listening to the world tell us it is over, that our stress is greater then our God, we need to open our heart and receive the word of God for what it is, and believe in what it CAN DO in our lives. Increase our Faith...What better way to get over stress then to move it out of the way? Jesus taught ... Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. So, it is doubt that stops us from reaching the fullness of our blessings, but as we grow in Faith our doubts seem to disappear. Entertain our Spirit...Jesus told the Disciples that He had to leave, but that He would ask God to send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to abide with us and in us, "If you love Me, obey Me; and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter, and He will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit Who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive Him, for it isn't looking for Him and doesn't recognize Him. But you do, for He lives with you now and some day shall be in you" We must be open to entertaining what the Holy Spirit would reveal to us, we must follow his lead, as he speaks not in his own manner but the manner of God. Engage our Faith... by engaging the scriptures and mixing them into our lives in a way that we see positively and not negatively. Stress is a killer, Christ is Life! There is two sides to a coin, heads or tails, our life cannot be based on which side it lands on, stress can turn our world into a gambling casino, Christ wants us to be free from worries, go back to the top of this devotional, read what Philippians 4: 6,7 says. Our hearts and minds both are in the protective hands of God, if we follow a few simple rules of Faith...God Bless, pappy
