I have an 870 Express that I've been using with a saddle mount for the optic.  Was gonna have it drilled & tapped for a a rail.  A gunsmith said he had done it but he didn't recommend it because the metal was thin especially on the front end of the receiver of these newer guns.  Any of you guys had any trouble having one drilled & tapped on the 870 Express?  Thanks

Have had a few 870's and 11-87's drilled and tapped without any problems.  With most of the rails you should be able to get 2 or 3 screws into the thicker metal of the receiver.

Who would you recommend do the work?  Someone that I could be confident that would do a good job.

I think it would be a somewhat easy job for most qualified gunsmith.

It can be did. :icon_thumright:  Now we shoot more rounds in one weekend then you will in 10 years.  No problems at all.    You can get it fixed a few places but I recommend one.  :toothy9:

Could I ship just the receiver or do I have to ship the whole gun to have it drilled & tapped?

SumToy

If you can take it apart then pull everything off/out of it.
