Had hardly had time to get on here!
After my last hunt with the rest of the Gooserbat crew I was in two weddings in back to back weekends, one in Florida and one in Illinois, finished my time at Oklahoma State University, helped put on a week long camp for urban/minority students interested in agriculture, and interviewed for a position at Washington State University.
Well, I was offered and accepted that position, so the family and I packed up in Oklahoma and headed to Washington! The good news is there are several options for me to chase gobblers this spring! Washington actually has Easterns, Rios, and Merriams! I am very close to Idaho and more Merriams as well!
Oh, yeah I saw this guy last week!

Congrats. Not a bad place to land at all. We came close to moving to Pullman and WSU a few years back and spent a summer there. Great place for a family. Loved seeing the wildlife in the area: pheasants, chukars, quail, grouse, deer, elk, turkey. There was a pretty decent gun and sporting goods shop on the road from Pullman to Moscow. Sure Shot, I think. Very knowledgable owner. Good guy to talk to about hunting in the area. The farmers market in Moscow on Saturday mornings is awesome.

Very nice, I've often dreamed of moving out west. Wyoming/Montana in particular. Just don't know if I could ever leave my beloved Midwest again after moving back from California a few years ago.

Thanks guys, it is a beautiful area, but budtripp, you're right. It's not the Midwest, but I think i'll get used to it. RV, my wife actually stopped in Sure Shot the other day when she was in Moscow, she said it was awesome. She's a pretty good woman to scout sporting good stores for me. I think I'll let her stick around!

jblackburn,
Congrats on your new job. I've lived in Washington all of my life, I live about 2 hrs from Pullman. I'd say it'd be a very good idea for you to turkey hunt in Idaho as well as Washington, since you'll live so close to the WA/ID border. I do a lot of turkey hunting in the Blue Mountains in SE WA, but I also hunt in Idaho over towards Orofino. Idaho has so much public ground to hunt and way fewer hunters than what I see in WA. Welcome to Washington!
Do you do any waterfowl hunting?

Gamblinman, don't worry, I have a lifetime hunting license and I intend to use it! I got my butt kicked by some mountain birds down at Pushmataha and I intend to go back and settle the score!
Riofan, thank you VERY much for those tips. I have the reg books for WA and ID, it is a lot to take in, especially all the elk and other big game rules!
I used to goose hunt a little bit, but it has been years. I grew up in Missouri and we just did not have many ducks other than teal and a few woodies.
