mounting FF3 to SBE2

I have recently got a SBE2 that is predrilled and tapped factory, i have my FF3 i was using on my Stoeger i had drilled for the Weaver 93 base.  On the new SBE2 i really want to mount it as low as possible so i was looking at the marlin base.

My question is do i have to get the gun drilled for it OR can i get the mount drilled to fit what i already have? also do i have to do anything with my current FF3 (as picatinny mount currently) for it to fit on the new base set up?

is this the base i need to get?

I would definately drill the base before I would drill the receiver.Your gun is already drilled and tapped so I would just redrill the 336 base to match,instead of adding additional holes.Should be very easy to drill an additional hole in the 336 base to match the pattern versus trying to drill into the very hard benelli receiver.Just some food for thought,is this going to be a dedicated turkey rig?If so I would consider going to a picatinny /weaver rail for the fact that it would open up the options to use any style of reddot/reflex sight/scope that you may want to try down the road.The sight will set a little higher but you can easily swap in the raised comfortec cheekpiece to compensate for that.If its going to be a multi species/use gun then I would probably go 336 mount to keep the sighting plane as low as possible for wingshooting.Just some stuff to consider.But like I said I would redrill the 336 base to match,i have redrilled bases in the past at home using a drill press and an old base as a guide for the new pattern.It's fairly easy to do this you just have to take your time and make sure to square everything up.Or take it to a gunsmith and it should be cheap cause he only has to drill one hole and no tapping required.Also there is a one piece mount/protector for benellis made by fowler pride for their red dot that looks like a carbon copy  of the burris ff2/3 on midwayusa that you may want to look at.It looks like the burris ff should be able to use this mount but im not positive about it.It would make a nice clean mount though on a dedicated rig.....ward

I'm in the process right now of doing exactly what you're doing...The 336 base you want to use, according to the guys on here is the BURRIS 336...I don't know the reason for that but that seems to be consensus and I'm in agreement with the previous post...I'd drill the base instead of the receiver if that option was available...
There are some threads that discuss this. If you do a search on Old Gobbler you'll get some great info.

Oh, BTW there's a Burris guy on here that can supply the base and screws you'll need...He's on the threads relating to Burris FF...
