Thinking about getting my Sx2 forcing cone lengthened . Has anybody had this done. And has it improved your pattern. Thanks
Kevin
Hey Kevin,
I have a Fox SxS that I had a lot of work done on many years ago. That included lengthening the chambers and forcing cones, backboring, shortening the barrels, threading for chokes and installing studs for a sling.
It was a major project that turned out very well. (This was in my "short-barrel" phase) I shot many turkeys with that gun and still take it to the woods occasionally. It's very handy and easy to carry.
It's one of those special guns that I could never sell and get my money out of it but it was fun at the time. Today, I'd never do it because there are just too many other choices.
In my experience, it really depends on who does your work as to whether it improves the patterns. I've seen some guns that actually had worse patterns after having that work done and many that were really improved. There are a couple of smiths that I trust to do that kind of work.
Thanks,
Clark
