Found a 23" barrel for my 870 whoo hop

I picked up an 870 at an awesome price that has a 28" barrel on it. Just a bit too long for turkey hunting I think. Looked at adding a shorter barrel and man those are hard to come buy with a choke on it.

Browsing suppliers last night and I found one 23" remington made barrel in stock for under $200 shipped!

Hope it is as handy of a size as I think it will be.

Excellent, let us know what kind of patterns you turn with the 23".

I just ordered an 870 with a 23 inch barrel. Even those are hard to find. I hunt a 26 inch Benelli around fields and plan on using the 870 in the woods. I don't know if the barrel is 23 inches with the Remington choke in or out. The shorter barrel is also easier to use out of some of the smaller blinds.

Nice, I've had my eye out for a 21" barrel for my 11-87 for months now. Seems all I can find are slug barrels  >:( The 28" can be a lil bit long when hunting in the woods, especially with an extra 2 in of choke sticking out.

I really like the 23" barrel on mine.  Before I bought my turkey gun I used a 26" 870 and thought it was a bit long for the type of hunting I did.

Same here. Not sure how much velocity or killing power I lost going from 28" to 23", but it is a lot easier to handle in the woods.

Hmm, that's not a bad deal. May have to think about that
