I would love to take you up on that offer but in Texas, al+most all property is privately owned and I am not one of the lucky ones. Thought I would pass on
stormranchhunting.com
. They are near Austin, Texas and have over 2000 acres. They give you your own pasture (usually 500 acres) and turn you loose or they will provide a guide, your choice. They also have accommodations if you need.
Haven't used them myself but have seen the property and have friends that hunt there. Good luck in your search.

I just got back from the Black Hills in South Dakota....I hunted 100% public land and was on birds every day. I managed to kill one but my partner did not....he had opportunity but did not take a marginal shot. You can stay in Deadwood for as little as $39 a night at some small but nice motels and you will have hundreds of thousands of acres to hunt on for your Merriams.
Best of luck!!!

If you go to Kansas remember the eastern 1/3 approx. of state is Easterns, middle you can run in to hybrids of Easterns/Rios that look more like easterns. An outfitter might not tell you that. Make sure you go to an area that has purebred Rios if that is what you need for the slam.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
