Ghost Ring or Not to Ghost Ring, that is the question.  Got this gun last year NWTF Super X2, shot two gobblers with it in 2012 before I really settled on a load/choke but knew it was shooting a bit high most of the time.  This year, after a lot of close calls, late in the season I had two jakes come in super early one morning...I got one but it was an adventure with miss and a barely killed bird on 2nd shot. The sights that came on this gun were non adjustable, it's always shot just a little high due to a high rear sight and low front sight but to this point it had never caused me trouble...just figured i'd aim at the waddles and be fine. Last years gobblers both got hit pretty hard but in hindsight, not flattened like they should have been.  I ended up putting a new TruGlo True Bead Universal with Dual Color front sight on the gun, (this one has an adjustable rear sight that sits low on the gun, and a taller larger front sight, it comes with the ghost ring rear sight or standard rear sight, I used the standard for now but interested if anyone has used Ghost Ring)  This time when a bird came in early and hung up at 40 yards in a pasture, I was able to stop him and put the pattern in his face before he walked off.  This bird had plenty of holes in the vitals even though he was much further than the adventurous one a few days earlier.  Lesson learned, should have gotten rid of the original sight long ago rather than accepting that it needed to be aimed super carefully and a little low.  I will dial it in all the way later but for now I'm very pleased with this change.  What do you guys think of the ghost ring rear sight? Anyone ever used it? I might put it on for next year.  Would like to make this work out because I'd rather not spend 300 dollars to get drilled, tapped, and set up for a red-dot  :newmascot:

I use the ghost ring and like it. I like it more than a regular rear sight because my eye naturally centers the front sight in the ring, makes it fast to get lined up.

do you feel like the ring is restrictive to your vision at all? short or close range?
