HI guys I was wondering what
a good 10 inch  number would be for heavyweight  7s at  40 yards for a  3 inch12 gauge thanks.

I was able to turn 200+ with the 3" HW 7's out of my rem870 with a 21" bbl and Hastings .665 non ported choke. This choke also shot good patterns with FCW shells. The HW 7's pack a serious punch on the turkeys. Although numbers weren't as high as Hevi 7's, the knock down of the HW 7's seemed to make up for it. Good luck.

There's no doubt about that.

Now if Federal would just give us a 2 and 1/4oz load of 7's, we would be set.

If you can get a ounce or about %50  of your shotgun shells payload  in a 10 inch circle your doing very well , regardless of shell or gun

1 ounce of #7 federal HW is 219 pellets

But an ounce is way more than 50% of the 3" load in question which only contains 1.625 oz. The shell contains 353 pellets, so 50% would be 176. I would consider that very good with that shell.

50% is very good , I would say the better shooting 20 gauges can get about 150 ?  I guess that would be aprox. relation to payload on those guns

and a 2 ounce shooting 12 or 10 can get 220+ about 50% I think that where I had my train of thought focused on -  but yes the Federals are a awesome shooting and heavy hitting shell
