Alright men, I am looking to get myself a good gobble call. It doesn't matter if it is custom or mass produced, but I am interested in what has worked well for members here. I hav a Primos shaker that works decent, but would like something a little better.
I would appriciate any and all advice.

Thanks,

Mike

I am looking also and was going to ask the same. I have the primos shake call too. The haint is a nightmare for me. I am sure it would work if I could learn how to use it but that is not going to happen any time soon.

I was also looking for a good one a couple years ago.  After trying out several different ones, someone suggested the Red Wolf so I got it.  Does a great job producing a gobbler sound if you run it right which isn't hard at all.  I was messing with my buddy a few weeks ago with it & fooled him bad. So bad he said that thing sounded just like a gobbler & he was gonna get him one also.  Someone else here may know of a better one.

Just picked up a Haint about an hour ago.....gonna take some time to learn this one (at least for me)

I have an H.S. Strut...It produces a "reasonable" gobble if you shake it "vigorously". I think it's good enough to fool a gobbler (it has on numerous occasions). I use it to entice a gobbler in who is not cooperating and it does that pretty well. I've owned Primos shaker tubes also...They all seem to be o.k. I have noticed that they seem to lose their flexibility after some time. Also, they don't work well in cooler temps. I put mine in my armpit or in the crook of my groin to warm it before use in those temps.

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

The Primos and the red Wolf work pretty well, well enough to kill a turkey if you can use it well.

I learned the technique off a video, but cannot remember who made it.  Maybe it was Roger Raisch on Turkey Hunting Secrets or perhaps Primos of the HS guys.

The idea is to start with the call up at 45 or 60 degree angle to the ground with your arm extended.  Cup you hand around the tube portion with a couple of fingers beyond it so you can baffle it.  The call is made by shaking it and bringing your arm down to your side and slightly behind you.  As your arm is coming close to you, start closing your fingers down to mimic the "decay" in soundwaves of a gobble.

Al and Josh Shoemaker make a gobble box per Big Tom's design that is very good.

Hands down, the most realistic and loudest gobble call produced is the Haint.

Hard to beat a tube call!
Here's a sample...

This is from one of my small tubes, one of my larger makes an even better gobble.
I make and sell these, PM me if you're interested.
